About This Spot

Stepping into Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House on Manhattan’s 2nd Avenue feels like being welcomed into a quietly refined corner of Japanese dining—a space where intimacy softly balances with the anticipation of a well-curated hot pot experience. The atmosphere hums with a gentle warmth, inviting you to slow down and savor the ritual of shabu-shabu. It’s not a bustling scene by New York standards, but rather a calm gathering ground where every detail, from the seating to the pace of service, encourages thoughtful engagement with the meal.

Here, the rhythm is measured, letting the fresh ingredients and nuanced broths speak for themselves. Meats arrive in thoughtfully cut, ethereal slices, while the accompanying seafood and vegetable platters offer moments of brightness and texture, creating a harmony that feels both soothing and celebratory. The sukiyaki broth, rich and gently sweetened, becomes a quiet centerpiece, drawing people into a collective experience of warmth and flavor.

The flow of the meal is guided with a quiet attentiveness, helping diners discover the subtle interplay between rich Wagyu cuts, silky bone marrow, and delicate sashimi moments like sweet shrimp and mackerel. Whether you come with practiced shabu-shabu familiarity or as a curious first-timer, the staff’s patience and knowledge create an unhurried space for discovery.

Though the venue is modest in size, this adds to its charm—making each shared pot feel like a personal conversation around the table. It’s a place where time tilts gently away from the fast pace of city life, offering a rare chance to connect deeply with the ingredients, the flavors, and the people you accompany.

Pretty good. I liked the Nigiri sushi, A5 shoulder, bone marrow, and grouper the most. The sukiyaki broth is a must. The service was really good too. Good spot All you can eat for two people was $196 + tip.

Pleased with my dining experience with Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House in their Flushing location, I had to try their Manhattan location as well! While smaller than their Flushing location, the services and food were just as good. Upon seating, our waiter kindly explained to us that their Manhattan location is smaller than their Flushing location, therefore, the menu and ordering is slightly different. He was thorough and gave clear, detailed instructions leaving no confusion. Unlike the Flushing location, this location has only three wagyu sets to choose from, rather than four. Sadly, there are only four specialty dishes to choose from. Nonetheless, their specialty dishes were still very tasty! Especially their Wagyu Nigiri. A perfect balance of wagyu and rice, neither flavor overwhelming the other. One thing I do like about this is their organized workflow. Since the restaurant is small, the staff would frequently check in. They would grab the specific sauce you want, as well as the drinks, and the dessert. If you prefer to be creative with your sauce, then feel free to try their Flushing location. Still, I am glad to have come here and will try to come again soon with my friends.

Mikiya is a nice experience! The service was a bit slow in the beginning, which was unusual since we were one of approx. four tables on a random Tuesday. Once we had a flow going after ordering (we chose the silver set), I ordered the Wagyu tartare and the sukiyaki and spicy miso soup base for the table. We tried a bunch of different cuts of meats and all of them were delicious. The seafood platter is very generous & is based per person, but every thing was very fresh. The egg dip & sukiyaki were so good! They ran out of a lot of condiments, but we had Thai chili, egg, green onion & garlic. The soup base itself was flavorful enough though. Overall good experience & would likely come back for special occasions!

Excellent culinary experience and fantastic service!! We loved the all you can eat food and our waiter did an excellent job guiding us through the process since it was our first time! We can’t wait to go back!

Mikiya wagyu shabu 2nd Ave near 51st Manhattan, wonderful hot pot (shabu) every item was super fresh, thinly sliced wagyu and broth was wonderful and flavors balanced, bone marrow was well done. You can pick different sets and price goes up accordingly. Diamond, gold etc your palette won't disappoint.

I came here for a cozy winter dinner and ended up finding one of my favorite Japanese hotpot places in NYC! This spot serves all-you-can-eat Japanese shabu and sukiyaki, and it’s seriously a dream. The shabu broth is light and clear, which lets the real flavors of the veggies and seafood shine through. If you’re more into rich flavors, the sukiyaki broth is so good with meat, sweet, savory, and comforting. So many cuts of Wagyu beef, and they’re included in the all-you-can-eat menu. Plus tons of seafood, veggies, and small bites. You’ll leave full and happy. The setup is clean and modern, and it’s the kind of place you’ll want to go back to again and again, especially on a chilly day. Definitely recommend this spot if you’re craving comforting hotpot and premium meat. It hits all the marks.

Food was definitely fresh and good compared to other ayce place. Price is on the higher side but the meat quality makes it worth it. The price includes drinks, appetizers and ice cream at the end! Wish the soup was a bit richer..

I think there are 5 soups to select and there are 3 options for AYCE which I chose gold option first. But after I’ve tried the Wagyu Ribeye, I changed to diamond option. The Wagyu Ribeye is way sooooo good with unlimited order all in the menu. Good taste and clean. The service is so nice as well. Good taking care of clients even quite busy there and the vibes is nice and clean. If I have a chance to come back, I will. The restaurant is closed to the main road.
